... This little girl was none other than Leisel Jones!
Leisel Jones began swimming at the age of two when her mum, Rosemary, a cleaner at the local swimming pool, would take her to work each morning. “I jumped into the pool thinking I had my floaties on but I sank to the bottom – then I had lessons,” Leisel says.
Leisel burst onto the Australian swimming scene when she was only 15 years old! ... There was speculation in the media, though at first it was hushed, that Leisel could qualify for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games!
This speculation developed even more as Leisel defeated Sam Riley, who at the time was considered to be the nation’s top female breaststroker.
