Book Review: Making the Corps
In Making the Corps, Thomas Ricks looks at the role of the military in today’s society. ... I would classify him as politically moderate; his interest in the military and apparent respect for the values they hold true places him more conservative than some, but he also expresses concerns over the military’s politically conservative activism and lack of liberals especially within the officers corps. ... Seeing this trend towards people without military experience making decisions involving the role of the military, a book discussing the actual culture of the military would be an important must read for any politician, especially the National Security Advisor.
Making the Corps was written before the attacks on September 11th, and the Bush administration for that matter, and is slightly out of date for that fact.
