early education

Before entering High School young people are like a white sheet of paper. They don’t have their own opinions , plans for the future or defined/clear features of character. But they have great potential and fresh , open minds. High School is a place where children change into adults , where their personality is formed and where the ‘final version’ of a person is created. I am not an exemption. It cannot be denied that I am a product of my High School environment. By this statement I mean not only a school as a institution supposed to direct student on the track of gaining knowledge , but also particular teachers with their specific methods and approach towards us , and , of course , other students and extremely important interaction with them. The High School I used to go was no better or worse than the rest .Generally speaking it can be characterized as typical school with financial problems , overloaded curricula , segmented teaching content , certainly not inrested in our development. There were some standard for everyone despite of the fact that people had different talents which should have been concentrated on. The stressful atmospheare were built by system of subjective grades as well as by teachers and their game of status by means of fear. But my class was slightly different. First of all it was different becouse of the fact that we were the first group of learners tought due to authoring curriculum. There were clear aims of teaching , innovative teaching methods and alternative methods of evaluation. Subjects like maths , biology , chemistry and physics were limited to necessary minimum and lasted only for two years. Nobody expected us to be good in these fields. It was rather like extra lessons which gave us the opportunity to gain some general knowledge but only to a certain degree. Expectations were so low that even without learning everybody would pass. We didn’t have to waste time on subjects that would be useless in our educational future. On the other hand history , mother-tongue language and foreign languages were expanded and some additional hours devoted to philosophy , logic , latin were added.
