Queequeg
There is an old saying that one should never judge a book by its cover. This saying is perfectly applicable when considering Queequeg. Stereotypes can often times cause a barrier between people and the first impression that Ishmael had of Queequeg formed this barrier. Queequeg I’m sure would be quite the sight being tall and brawny and covered in tribal tattoos, but that doesn’t tell anything about who he is. ... Once the two of these men became more comfortable with each other they were able to share the bed and in fact woke up to Queequeg having his arm draped over Ishmael in “the most loving and affectionate manner”. ... It was almost as if Ishmael could tell that there was more to Queequeg than just his appearance and the fact that he is a cannibal.
