During old times when religion was on power the only faith and the only truth was what the bible said. ... When Darwin suggested that evolution was a natural process and that god was not the main character in the natural selection process. When the church and theologians people that study and try to find the truth within religion disregard evidence that may lead to the ultimate truth this creates a precedence that religion prefers to rely on dogmas rather than evidence at all cost. Therefore, the relation of religion and evidence is a subordinate one because religion will not accept evidence unless it goes in accord to what religion already believes. ...
Science and evidence in the other hand have a close relationship. Science ultimate nature is to find facts for the only reason of finding them to increase our knowledge. ... This means that evidence is the backbone of science. However as we discuss in Haught’s book relaying only evidence as the means of truth even in science creates a certain problem. When you belief only in evidence, evidence becomes a religion only relaying in the things that you can prove for certain gives people certain reliability like in scientism to belief what is there. The problem with this type of view is that as Haught present in is view of confirmation Science has always been powered by religion.
