Plan-Outline for Rhetorical paper Anyone person that believes that every person was created equal in the eyes of the Lord, realize the impact that slavery has had on the development of our society. The treatment, lack of humanity and unjust events that happened in their lives, show how they have come far further that most Americans around us. I wanted to look much deeper into many of the events and the way of life that they lived and show how and why they were the way they were. In Frederick Douglass' autobiography the impact is felt and seen through evey page. Slave owners and their sympathizers described blacks in terms of negative stereotypes to justify treating them as property. These stereotypes provided the foundation for the idyllic mythology of the plantation. Slave owners had the idea that they were more inferior than their possessions (or slaves). They also though that the way that slaves were treated was not improper or unlawful but the way of life. They believed that the only purpose of these "animals" were to provide work for the owners. In the book, Douglass states an example and events when the slaves would sing on their way to work.
