Stewart Ditto Sparrow Period 7 6 October 2003 © 2003 All Rights Reserved “Life in the Underworld” Through killings, drug deals, and deceit a Cuban refugee by the name of Tony Montana (Al Pacino) became the biggest drug lord in Miami. With help from his friend Manny Ray (Steven Bauer) he takes over his Boss’ cocaine business and expands it to an empire in Miami. First he is sent to Miami on boats full of criminals from Cuba. Fidel Castro was getting rid of his criminals by dumping them on America. When he gets to America the customs officials do not believe Tony’s story so they send him to a Cuban refugee town. As soon as he is there he is ready to get out, and his friend Manny provides a way out by making a deal with a man on the outside that they would kill a communist political prisoner that was in that Cuban town for a green card. He and Manny get out and soon after meet Manny’s friend who gives Tony his first drug job. Soon Tony gets deeper and deeper into the drug business, and eventually kills the boss when the boss attempts to assassinate Tony at a restaurant. Tony then becomes the boss and expands his business by buying and selling cocaine from a Bolivian named Sosa.
