Howdy. My name is chief Andrews and I・m here today to talk to this good looking group about fire and fuel reduction issues that are taking place in society today. For those here who don・t know what fuel reduction means or is about it・s a method used by national fire fighters and people like park rangers that helps prevent deadly bushfires. Another term they use which you might have heard is ．burning off・. The process of burning off or fuel reduction if you may call it, is a small, controlled line of fires aimed to prevent accidental fires from breaking out into the forests and becoming out of our hands. Although proven to work it sometimes has the down sides because they are unable to burn off during summer. Like the latest bushfires that took place in the north eastern area of Victoria which proved to be quit a big fire with a spread range of 200 by 200km of forest burning. To be precise the fire burnt up 1.1million hectares of land.
