Arcangelo Corelli is the youngest in a family of five, his parents or Santa Reffini and Arcangelo Corelli ( 1593-1653), and his older brothers are Ippolito and Giacinto. Corelli’s family can be traced back to Piancastelli to the middle of the Fifteenth Century , and this proves that Corelli’s birth was a gentle birth. (Grove’s Dictionary of Music and Musicians.) His family were land owners and had a lot of money. ( http://www.hoasm.org/ VIIA/Corelli.html) It is never said if Corelli was married or had any love intrest. It seems his love was music and his violin. Although he did have a lot of teachers and people that admired him. The only thing stated about Corelli’s health was that it started to fail when he was replaced by a new violinist and was no longer favored in the city of Rome. (Grove’s Dictionary of Music and Musicians) Arcangelo seems to have been of the up most amiable disposition, unless provoked beyond endurance. He was a model of true artistic modesty. He also had an attitude when someone would tell him he was doing something wrong. Handel was one that corrected Corelli’s way of performing a composition Handel wrote in French style. Handel though thought of him highly, and said of him, “ He likes nothing better than seeing pictures without paying for it, and saving money”. He was always confident in his performances, and did not like to fail.
