August 10th, 1945 Conyers, Ga. Dear Jane, How have you been? I’m looking forward to school starting in about two weeks. I know my students don’t feel the same. At the Sunday Social yesterday, we had a special prayer for the people in Japan after the bombing of Nakasaki and Hiroshima. I know it was necessary to bring the war to close sooner and save many Americans lives, but I’m so sorry so many innocents were killed. Since the Russians took Berlin and Hitler is finally dead, we are hoping and praying that Uncle Asa will be found alive in the concentration camp and will be home soon. I miss him terribly, it’s not the same with out him here. How are you enjoying your job in the bomber plant? I guess you won’t be working much longer since all of our men will be coming home soon after Japan surrenders. The fair will be in town September 20th.
