Linsen Loots, a grade 12 student at Parel Vallei High, Somerset West is the winner of the Old Mutual/CSSA 2003 Computer Olympiad! Linsen won a gold medal and the Old Mutual Trophy as well as R1,500 for himself and R5,000 for his school. Just recently he returned with the team that represented South Africa at the 2003 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in the USA where he won a silver medal. Linsen is a regular medal winner in the South African Maths Olympiad. Winners of the Old Mutual/CSSA 2003 Computer Olympiad Silver medals were Richard Starfield a grade 12 student at King David High – Victory Park in Johannesburg and Marco Gallotta also a grade 12 student from Rondebosch Boys’ High in Cape Town.
