#1-Setup: Clive and Geoffrey worked on a plantation in a developing nation. Each day, Clive would receive a handful of letters in each post; Geoffrey on the other hand, didn’t receive a single thing. One day, Clive offered him a piece of his mail for $5. Geoffrey eagerly accepted the offer, picked out his letter, and ran back to his sleeping quarters. That night when the two met again, Clive asked what was in the letter, Geoffrey refused to answer and this upset Clive. He then asked if he could at least tell him whom sent the letter, but Geoffrey replied with “Not on your life” and he left. #2-Reversals: All this confidentiality over one letter worried Clive. Day in and day out he wondered what was in the letter, or at the very least, who it was from.
