Oedipus requests that a blind prophet named, Tiresias, be summoned for advice. ... Tiresias refuses to tell the King what he knows but when Oedipus threatens him with torture he reveals that Oedipus is the murderer of Laius, “I say you are the murderer you hunt” (609). After hearing this, Oedipus then accuses Creon of putting Tiresis up to the accusation and charges Creon of being a traitor. Jocasta, Oedipus’ wife, comes in to defind her brother and explains to Oedipus about the oracle that came to visit Laius (her previous husband) and what it had told him. ...
