Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act FACTS: The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) provides federal funding to states in support in prevention, assessment, investigation, prosecution and treatment activities. It also provides grants to public agencies and nonprofit organizations for demonstration programs and projects. It also supports research, evaluation, technical assistance, and data collection activities. The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act were enacted in 1974 and has been amended a couple times, most recently in October of 1996. I agree with this act mainly because child abuse is wrong and cannot be stopped. With this act and many other acts it can help prevent child abuse. Of course since children cannot stop or prevent this abuse it is for investigators to take action and what ever they need to do it will be funded for.
