Consider the following statement:
“The impact of electronic advances (computer hardware, networking, software, internet resources, e-commerce, etc…) taking place in the market place is irreversible and will render most of the current concepts of manufacturing efficiency and inventory management obsolete. The manufacturing facilities of the future will need to be able to respond quickly to changing demands. ... Working in a manufacturing environment for the past twelve years, I have personally seen the impact of the technological advances mentioned above. ...
Electronic advances, especially e-commerce, continue to help companies be more productive, cost effective, and efficient. ... “The practice of using computer and telecommunications technology to conduct business will only continue to develop to encompass more aspects of manufacturing.” (Industrial Modernization Center) Andy Grove said it best when he stated, “ a company will either be an Internet company or it won’t be a company at all”
In conclusion, the impact of electronic advances will forever change the faces of manufacturing facilities.
