	Cat Man a painting by David Bates
	The painting "The Cat Man," a work created by David Bates, is a good example of Representational art, as it depicts a man preparing to cut up a catfish. Painted in 1986, during the period of Neo-Expressionism, the artist has a very distinct (as in Personal) style of applying lines and geometric shapes into the design of the painting. ... As for the subjects nose, it has a triangular shape, although, to make it look three-dimensional, the artist uses gradations applied across the nose bridge to give it shape and definition (this technique, known as chiaroscuro, is applied to other parts of the painting such as the gray hat, which reveals indentures across the top of it, the bark in the trees and the subjects hands). ...
