Life for an 18th Century Acadian, was it brutal? The articles “Acadians in Exile; The Experience” and “The Golden Age of Acadian Life” both written by Naomi Griffths, clearly portrayed that there really is two sides to every story. Typical life for an Acadian was definitely a distinct culture of its own. They lived primarily off of bread, milk, butter and beef and looked down upon vegetables and fish which was much different from the British society. ... It was interesting in the article “Acadians in Exile; the Experience” when an Acadian man was dieing he wanted 200 people beside his bed to say good bye too, but there was only a few there, I thought this portrayed a good example of the strong relations among the Acadians how much each other meant to them. You could almost argue that they were a perfect society, no wonder the British wanted to be rid of such sound individuals.
