Pride and Prejudice vs. Catch 22
Satire develops a central theme of the ills of society in a novel. The novels Catch 22 and Pride and Prejudice explore many societal irregularities. In Catch 22, Heller explores amiss of war; Pride and Prejudice discusses the social wrongs of marriage. Austen and Heller explore satire using characters and irony and caricatures. Although Catch 22 and Pride and Prejudice are written in different styles as well as time periods, they share the similarity of satire.
Catch 22 and Pride and Prejudice use characters and caricatures to develop satire to explore the ills of society. Elizabeth and Yossarian, the protagonists of the novels are developed characters.
