Type of Stage
Our group chose to use the proscenium stage because it is more like a picture frame and you can capture the fairy tale more than other stages. It is in the shape of a picture frame and it seems that everything will be closed in the scene.
Backdrop
Instead of using a cyc I chose to use a drop. The scene I am designing is a forest scene. Therefore, there are several tress in the back drop. There is also a viewing of the hills with a view of the castle close to the horizon. (On my support materials page there is an example of the drop I would like to use)
Choice of Style for the Production
We chose to do the production in the setting of the actual fairy tale. Instead of doing anything special with the set, the play, or the actors we chose to do it in the setting it was made
Description of Set
In my set design there are three trees throughout the stage for the actors to run around and chase each other frolic ally. There are a few bushes in certain areas of the stage. Sleeping Beauty picks berries from a few of them...
