Hate Crimes in America
Can you imagine stepping outside your house every morning and fearing you will be harassed or even worse harmed in some way? This is what it is like for victims of hate crimes. The thousands of people who fall victim to these types of crimes every year are discriminated against simply do to their religion, race, gender, ethnicity, or sexuality to name a few. In just the last two decades authorities have begun to compile statistics relating to hate crimes, though they have been around for hundreds of years. Each day people are singled out for being themselves. Instead of seeing people as simply who they are, people who commit hate crimes degrade others for the things that set people apart and make our world a more interesting place. There is no single person who is more important then anyone else. We are all people, and everyone deserves to be treated that way.
