The Stability of Our Time

"The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled Zion with righteousness. And He shall be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is his treasure." (Isaiah 33:5-6 New American Standard Bible)
We live in tumultuous times. The unpredictable winds of political and economic changes are blowing on our lives with an unprecedented intensity. The prognosticators are working overtime to trying to forecast the resolution of these crises and the return to a "normal" way of life. We can now understand the intent of the ancient Confucian curse, "May you live in interesting times."
But the Word of God reveals there is a point fixed in the universe that is not subject to change regardless of the forces that act upon it. While you and I may feel as if our lives are in a constant state of flux, the throne of God and the One who sits on it is as secure today as it had ever been.
A sense of stability, a sense of permanence and immunity from change, is a basic need of all human beings. We all like to get a paycheck on a regular basis...
