Families have changed over the years. There were no prior marriages, no children from prior relationships, no threat or even thought of divorce, no drinking problems, or drugs. Now, there are teens in rehab, they’re living on the streets and they are not very close to their families. The teens aren’t respecting their elders as much as before. It seems like the parents are loosing their self-respect as an adult and are forgetting to teach their children that. I know that when I was growing up my mom and I would argue and scream at each other. But now that I am an adult I realize that arguing with her like that was wrong. But I learned the wrong way; I learned watching my husband’s family communicate. I believe that this is not going to get much better though because babies are having babies. There are more young teens having children every year. When we have kids we need to make them more aware of what the world is really like after you move out and graduate high school. (life is not all about fun and games) We need to make rules and keep them. Don’t try to be your children’s bestfriend, be their parent. Don’t be in a hurry to kick them out as soon as they turn 18, make sure that they have been taught and ready to go and be on their own.
