Summary
The drama "The Zoo Story" was written by Edward Albee in 1958.
The setting of this modern play is Central Park. Its an ordinary sunday afternoon in spring; and Peter is sitting on a bench in the park reading a book and smoking a pipe, as Jerry approaches him and tells him that he had been to the zoo earlier that day. The two very different men get in a conversation and we learn much about themselves and about their social backgrounds. Wich seem to be the exact opposite. Peter is a married man who lives in the east side of Manhattan with two daughters, and he even has two parakeets. Jerry on the other hand lives by himself on the top floor of a boarding house on the west side and tells Peter about his extraordinary Life style. While the conversation goes on Jerry tries to keep Peters attention by promising him that he will tell him about what happened at the zoo later on. As the conversation continues Jerry tells Peter about the relationship he had to his landladys dog. He tells him that at first he wasnt sure
how to build up a relationship to the animal but then he decided to kill the dog with love or to just kill the dog if that didnt work out...
