In William Bradford's Of Plymouth Plantation, he discussed how the Indians related to the Englishmen. While reading, I felt that he was describing the natives justly. My interpretation was that the Indians were very helpful towards the Englishmen; they wanted to make peace and become friends. Although the Indians were leery of approaching the Englishmen, Samoset wasn't. He knew some English so he was able to communicate to the Englishmen and direct them to Squanto who could speak English much better than he. From this Squanto became friends with the Englishmen and continued to aid them, until his death.
Bradford portrayed the Indians as being a very harmonious group of people. If you assist them, in return, they will assist you. They were also portrayed as being very brave savages. If harm comes their way, they will be ready to do battle...
