An American in Paris
"An American in Paris" is the dance I will be talking about. This dance from 1951 was directed by Vincente Minneli. It is a combination of ballet, tap, and jazz. The story is about a young man who lives in Paris, and he is trying to make a living as an artist. He meets this young woman and falls for her. Unfortunately for him, she is already on her way to marriage.
The elements of dance that I will discuss are choreography, music, and costume. Choreography is the process of putting steps together to create a dance. The maker of the dance is the choreographer, which in this dance is Gene Kelly, along with Leslie Caron. Movement is a big part of dancing...
