Friday Night Lights
H.G. Bissinger's Friday Night Lights, which was published in 1990, is a story of a high school football season. Bissenger goes into full detail of a run down town in Texas that worships its high school football team. He tells the accounts of the players of the 1988 Permian Panthers. Friday Night Lights is about the town of Odessa, Texas and how sacred football is to them. The story lets the reader of the experience and the excitement of the season and the huge rivals between neighboring towns.
In Texas there is a dirty town called Odessa where men worked hard in the oil fields to make a living. The town grew in the early 1950's because of an oil boom. This brought in too many students for the original Odessa High School...
