Jacob Emery Dogs INDEPENDENT READING LITERARY RESPONSE #2 1. The conflict in Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident is man vs. man. It is man vs. man, because the main plot of the story is that a ex-member of the LEP recon, named Briar Cudgeon, was fired, and is trying to get revenge by killing the head of the LEP by using goblins (who are dumber than a dog) to do his work. However, Captain Holly short, Commander Julius Root, the centaur Foaly, and Artemis Fowl with his body guard (who are only helping them if they help Artemis rescue his father from the Mafiya), are trying to stop him.
