Napster Company developed the software program that allows computer users to send and receive digital music. The company began operation on June 1, 1999. The music files were downloadable and free. Napster's action was seen as copyright infringement.
The scope of this analysis is to determine if Napster Company was involved in copyright infringement and what action could be taken to do not harm music market.
Recommendations
Napster's action affected all parties of music market artists, the recording industry, retailers, and consumers. However the affections were neither negative as positive. To not to be involved in copyright infringement, the music files provided by Napster should not be downloadable but available only online. The company could develop a compromise between the recording studios, the artists, and Napster such as a fee that could be divided between them.
