For one to first understand Karl Marx and his ideas, one must learn where such an interesting person like Karl Marx was brought up, and what influenced him. Karl Marx was born in the town of Trier, Germany on May 5, 1818. Marx was born into a middle class family, and was part of a long line of Rabbis in his family. Marx went to the University of Berlin, and thus is the beginning of Marx's economic views. Marx began writing articles on a liberal paper called, Rheinische Zeitung. "Marx's articles, particularly those on economic questions, forced the Prussian government to close the paper."(historyguide.org) one can first see Marx's own idea for economic change start to immerge.
