Multicultural books can be an excellent resource for both ESL and non-ESL students. They can be used to teach students about different people and beliefs around the world. Not only that, students might gain an understanding about another student in the same class who is from a different area or culture. Take a look ate the following examples to better understand how multicultural books can benefit a classroom.

Janet P. Cave's book, African Americans: Voices of Triumph Perseverance is a must have for teaching multiculturalism in the Social Studies classroom. First, the book gives a competent, yet detailed account of the African American struggle from tribal times in Africa through the Civil Rights Movement in America.
