Racism is a problem that has been prevalent in America throughout the years. Racism continues to be a driving force in the divisiveness of America, from affirmative action to racial profiling, especially among African-Americans and college students. There are many reasons why racism still is a problem in the United States, but the main cause of racism is deriven from a sense of ignorance among a group of people. The effects of racism can be found in many aspects of American society.
The first main effect of racism is racial profiling. It has been widely reported in the media about how police are pulling over people, mostly African-American, for no legal cause. Many have been pulled over for the type of car they are driving, the accessories on the car, etc. Many people have given a name to this type of discrimination, "driving while black". Many can argue why these cops are pulling over Blacks for no apparent reason. One may argue that these police officers grew up in homes where parents talked about not liking a particular race or ethnicity...
