Salem Witchcraft Trials
It is the nature of most humans to be afraid of those who are different than them. However, when this fear become such that they try to destroy those differences rather than to understand the differences, then mankind will eventually destroy one another. From the Witch Trails in Salem to the Communist Hunt in modern times, we have never truly become accustomed to the differences that we are made of. Therefore, what we do not understand we fear and sometimes attempt to destroy. The future of mankind, as demonstrated by the Salem Witch trials and the Red Scare, will not survive the attack on our differences. Our future lies in the amount of tolerance that we possess of each other.
The Puritans were very strict on God's rules and how God played a role in their lives. I think that the Puritans in some way feared God. When a massive wave of "witches" sprung up in Salem. The Puritans believed that the Devil had come to Salem to destroy it...
