Mary Todd Lincoln
Mary Todd Lincoln was born in 1818. She was the daughter of Eliza
Parker and Robert Smith Todd. They were both pioneer settlers of
Kentucky. Before Mary was seven years old her mother passed away. Her
father later on remarried. Although she was part of the aristocracy of
lexington, and had a busy social life, she remembered her childhood as
lonlely, and lacking events.
Standing at just five feet two inches in her adulthood, Mary had clear
blue eyes, long lashes, light brown hair, and a beutiful complexion. She
loved finery, was a great dancer, and was very witty. Her crisp intelligence
polished the wiles of a Southern coquette.
