A Trust Fund to Pay for a New Stadium
Recall 1991 and 1987 when our beloved Minnesota Twins entered the World Series as underdogs. They surprisingly won in the seventh game. Twins players have mentioned that if it weren't the homer hankies and the fans they would have not won. These last years the team has struggled until recently. With the development of possible contraction a new twins stadium is the only way they can stay in Minnesota. The only problem is finding the money to pay for the multimillion-dollar stadium. I believe the state should set aside 330 million dollar in bonds and let it sit in a trust fund for thirty years. This would gain money by compounding interest and at the end of the time period have enough in the fund to pay for the stadium costs. On top of this a tax would be placed on bars, restaurants, and hotels. I completely disagree with a full-fledged raise of taxes on the public to pay for the stadium...
