China’s One Child Policy
China has already gained one fifth of the world’s population. ... To solve the population growth, and bring higher standards of living in China, the Chinese government in 1979, applied the policy we know today as the “one-child policy.” The Chinese have favoured this policy because China can be able to continue feeding its gigantic population. On the other hand, this policy has been discriminated by the Chinese citizens. This policy was somewhat against the human rights, also it has caused female deaths. With this policy, China was looking forward to decrease its growth rates from 2. ... The policy was adopted to ensure that China would be able to feed its people, to get rid of poverty and to raise the overall quality of life. The one-child policy was adopted with the slogan of the initial population control program “Later, Longer, Fewer.”
The one-child policy, which was put in order by the Chinese government in 1979, has reduced China’s population by 250 million by then.
