Have you ever pulled out a photograph that is not accompanied by a flood of memories? I know I haven't. It is interesting how one piece of paper can cause you to recall so many thoughts. According to Plato, this is how all knowledge comes about. Recollection of the souls' past lives. This is just one of Plato's many arguments that I will touch on in this paper. Let's start at the beginning.
In the start of the Meno, Meno asks Socrates if virtue can be taught. Socrates, who is speaking for Plato, says this: "I am so far from knowing whether virtue can be taught or not that I do not even have any knowledge of what virtue itself is." "If I do not know what something is, how could I know what qualities it possesses?..
