What are Drums?
Drums are musical instruments catagorized by the term Membranophone. A membranophone is an instrument whos sound is made by a vibrating membrane. Lets look at the drum set, each drum has its own "head" which is nothing more than a piece of plastic or cowskin stretched over a hollow cylinder. When the head is stricken by a stick, then the head vibrates, sending sound waves to bounce around in the shell of the drum. That is how the sound is created.
How have drums affected the music industry?
Without drums, there would be no back bone to music. The purpose of drums is to keep a beat and make sure the other musicians are on beat. Without the drummer in the band, it would make music harder to keep on beat...
