Ariel from the Tempest by William Shakespeare
After doing a practice run for the final, it became apparent that my choice for make-up for Antigone did not work. I really wanted to do a stylized make-up for the final and so I went back and looked at some more plays. Finally I came up with Ariel from the Tempest. The original make-up I had planned would work with this character with just some minor adaptations.
Ariel is an interesting character. She is Prospero's spirit helper. Although I refer to her as she her gender and physical form are ambiguous. The only clear thing is that she is not human.
Ariel: Mine would, sir, were I human.
Prospero rescued her from a long imprisonment from the witch Sycorax...
