Australia was confronted with an abundance of change to our relationships with many Asian countries. These changes were politically, economically and socially. Although many enigmas are still current.
At the turn of the 20th century, Australia feared Asian countries. This was evident in the implementation of the Immigration Restriction Act of 1901. This Act also known as the White Australia Policy, as the name implies restricted immigration to 'white people' or those from the British Empire. Immigrants had to sit a test to enter Australia, this test was a dictation test, which could be done in any British Empire language, which was chosen by the dictator. Australia's immigration policy changed over the years to now include many Asian Countries. The need for this change arose after the diminishment of British migrants and after the Vietnam War when Australia saw herself with the responsibility to take in many Asian refugees.
After the wars Australia saw a perfect opportunity to increase her trade to other countries...
