This weeks readings were very shocking and revealing. The readings explored areas that have never been talked about or explored during my educational career and in the community. For the most part, I have been taught about prejudice, racism, and discrimination but never about how zoning or school education discriminated minorities, gays and lesbians, and the poor. The readings are very true. When I think about the area or community of where I live, discrimination through zoning exists as well as through education. In my neighbor hood there is no gay or lesbian homeowners or very many minorities such as myself. The whole city is divided, by income level, race, and gender. The east side of Garden Grove is where you'll find 60% of Hispanics with low incomes, forming their own enclave within Garden Grove. On the west side of Garden Grove is where 90% of the Anglo-Saxon live, and of course they are well off economically speaking and create their own enclave. On the south side of Garden Grove there is yet another minority the Asian and once again they form their own enclave and economically speaking it varies...
