The term Operations Management can be defined as the management of the transformation of resources into finished goods and services in relation to the key inputs, processes and outputs.
N&R Alexander Pty Ltd uses trees, which are grown using biotechnical plant technology so as to obtain high quality timber. The trees and imported timber for specialist applications are used as the inputs for N&R Alexander Pty Ltd. The following process is used to gain a number of outputs, this is:
Cutting and trimming of the trees and transporting the timber to a nearby small town.
The timber is then processed at a sawmill using state of the art timber technology to ensure the highest quality product is obtained.
The timber is then dried in kilns.
The timber is then transported to Melbourne where technology is used to remove knots and any impurities.
The processed timber is then further worked on in different manners to gain a number of outputs, these are:
Structural timber.
Baltic pine flooring and panelling.
