Niccolo Machiavelli
Born in 1469, in Florence, Italy, Niccolo di Bernardo dei Machiavelli is in present day known as “The Father of Modern Political Science.” As a writer Machiavelli wrote everything from plays to political literature, the most well know being his “Principe” or “The Prince. ... The book “The Prince,” which was just a political stunt in attempt to gain popularity, had an opposite affect on the public’s view of Machiavelli. Machiavelli today is viewed as a “diabolical” and “politically corrupt.” “The Prince” isn’t the only book on political science that Machiavelli wrote. ... ” “The Discourses” described Machiavelli’s full political view and at times contradicts “The Prince.” “The Discourses” show full depth of love and admiration that Machiavelli had for the Republican government. Machiavelli should be remembered for his radical ideas in “The Prince,” but it should also be acknowledged that they are not his full view on politics or governmental ideas.
Machiavelli lived through the French invasions of Italy in 1943.
