After hanging up with my third recruiter that week, two years ago, I decided to get an MBA. I was frustrated because I was feeling unable to move into a role focused on strategy rather than accounting. Recruiters only phoned to gauge my interest in accounting and financial reporting opportunities they were trying to fill. Problem solving, and developing accounting procedures came easy, but so did stepping into a marketing role at the Federal Reserve Bank of Seattle one cold morning to help in an annual membership drive bellowing out our interest rates on home equity loans. After five progressive positions within US Bancorp, and overseeing the accounting operations in a non-profit environment, I was ready to move over to the strategic side of business. I wanted to know more than the profit or loss a business' products reaped each month. My goals have not changed. My short-term goal is to serve as a marketing analyst forecasting and performing profitability measurement, creating predictive or decision models for consumer products or brands, and analyzing and developing business plans...
