Audio Media Formats
As Technology has advanced, we have seen many changes in the entertainment industry. Some of those changes occurred in the way we listen to music today.
These are the four types of audio formats from the past and present that were used around the world.
The first type of audio format was the Vinyl Record. Columbia Broadcasting Records introduced inventor Peter Goldmark's "longer playing" 12 inch 33 1/3 rpm record. Not to be outdone, RCA Victor introduced the 7 inch 45 rpm record in 1949. One of the first vinyl records was priced at $3, but can now range up to $300. The first 45 rpm record to hit the Billboard charts was "A-- You're Adorable " by Perry Como.
The second type of audio format was the 8 Track. It was introduced to the public by Ford Motor Company on September 15th, 1965 as an accessory to their cars...
