Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809 in Kentucky, to poor and not very educated parents.
During his early life he moved lots of times. He lived in Indiana and Illinois. His mother died when he was just a boy. He was a peculiar boy, he disliked hunting and felt sorry for the animals that had to be killed so that the family could eat. His father didn't understand his sons feelings.
One of his first memories is of falling into a stream that ran by his families home, if he had drowned it would not have been unusual, for many children never lived to adulthood.
When he was growing up he wore deerskin pants and shirts and raccoon fur hats. He foods like cooked cabbage, bacon, pork, deer, and cornbread. He worked hard on the farm to get the crops in, sometimes the crops didn't grow because the soil was poor...
