During this semester, I intend to pursue an independent study of holography. Holography, like photography, is a technique that produces an image on film. The method by which a hologram is recorded and produces an image is very different from conventional photography.
Standard photography creates a two-dimensional image of a subject on film. The film image is called a negative. The two-dimensional image on the film is of a single, unchangeable viewpoint. The third dimension, or depth dimension, of the subject is collapsed onto the plane of film.
Holography, on the other hand, produces an image on film called a hologram. The hologram records all of the visual information of a scene, including depth. Subsequently, this allows a person not only to view the original scene in three dimensions but also to view the scene from many angles by moving one's head side to side or up and down...
