Have you ever thought about not having freedom of speech? The United States is a country of liberty and freedom, but not without laws that every citizen should abide by. Among these laws created are the Twenty-Seven Amendments proposed by Congress, and ratified by the Legislatures of the many states. One of the most popular and controversial Amendment is the First Amendment, Freedom of Speech, that each and every one of us practice everyday. Freedom of speech is one of the most valuable privileges that Americans are given in the United States. Without this privilege our society would not be as democratic as it is today.
Other countries do not have the twenty-seven amendments. They do not have the privileges that we take for granted. Speaking out about the government and government officials is not only frowned upon in other countries, but is considered a crime. When a citizen of a foreign country tries to speak out openly about affairs involving their country, they will most likely end up in jail or face some other kind of punishment...
