From boxy suits and pillbox hats, to spandex and neon, to vintage and
more skin, society unknowingly picks up bits and pieces of each fashion era.
Many teenagers today will scowl at their parent's old clothing from their
generation and say, "How could you ever wear that? I will never wear anything
like that!" Although, fashion always has a way of repeating itself, no matter how
tacky or hideous it may appear to be at the time.
Eighties fashion can easily be described as bold, fun, and perhaps risky.
It brought out individualism in everyone, as people took their own routes in
style, and didn't really follow others' trends. "The more, the better" was this
era's motto, while layering on jewelry and clothing was popular. People wanted
to be different and be able pull off their own ensembles. Many designers such
as Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Moschino, and John Galliano
were able to create this look.
The rock bands of the eighties such as The Sex Pistols and The Rolling
Stones had much influence on the punk-look many desired...
