Paranoid Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a severely disabling disorder that has a tremendous impact on both the victim and family members and friends. Schizophrenia develops in several different forms. One of the most common forms is paranoid schizophrenia. Paranoid schizophrenia has many causes, symptom/signs, and treatments that are under debate (Sue 403).
Paranoid schizophrenia, a psychotic illness, is characterized by one or more delusions or auditory hallucinations and the absence of such symptoms as disorganized speech and behavior. Individuals who suffer with paranoid schizophrenia may be subject to anger since many feel persecuted(Sue 403).
The causes of schizophrenia are still under debate. A chemical imbalance in the brain and heredity seems to play a role, but some things still remain unclear. Genetics help determine how the brain uses certain chemicals.
