The arrogance of the colonists grew to its epitome in the year of 1776. As Britain tried to regain full control of the colonies after salutary neglect, there was much conflict and tension between the colonies and Britain. After disagreements with certain British rules, the American colonists started to revolt through boycotts, etc. The number of accomplishments against the British kept rising, and their goals of gaining more power kept escalating. The taxation and individual restraints of natural rights implemented on the colonists by Britain acted as a catalyst for the revolution of American colonists against the mother country.
Taxation became a central variance in the colonies, and when the Stamp Act of 1765 was issued, it triggered a chain of events that led to major uprisings. The famous quote "taxation without representation" was written in the Virginia Resolves by Patrick Henry. This main idea persuaded even more people to fight for control over internal taxation. The colonists felt it was not fair for Britain to decide what he tax money was going to be used for in the colonies. Their anger led to boycotting British goods...
